About the role

The Production Technician (power generation plant operator), is a full-time role, based at Tarong Power Stations near Nanango. 4-day week roster, with possible shift relief in a plant operator capacity, as required. There are also opportunities available for progression to permanent shift work pending business needs and individual plant operating experience and competency. The role of a Production Technician is to oversee the day-to-day operations of the unit and the station plant as well as chemical and water processes. This includes coordinating appropriate support services and resources to address operational issues.  The Production Technician operates, monitors, inspects, and provides an Isolation Implementer role in a range of station plant areas, including our chemical and water processes. They actively identify potential plant challenges and take appropriate corrective action to minimise any negative impacts to plant availability and ensure the safe and reliable operation of the plant within agreed quality limits. 

Key activities include:

  • managing operational contingencies and taking appropriate action, as issues arise, to minimise adverse impacts on generating plant, environment, safe working conditions and plant availability;
  • identifying potential problems through routine inspections and trouble-shooting of operational problems including attention to trends to minimise down time;
  • ensuring work activities are compliant and the potential for any deviation from scope or activity is effectively accessed and communicated;
  • obtaining suitable information and familiarisation prior to conducting any task, this includes operating or isolating plant or use of chemicals or substances.
  • identifying potential problems through routine inspections and trouble-shooting of operational problems including attention to trends to minimise down time;

About you

  • Trade qualified in an appropriate electrical or mechanical discipline (or equivalent)
  • > 2 years industry experience in operations and/or maintenance
  • Knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety requirements
  • Experience in chemical plant and water treatment plant operations (desirable)
  • Experience in implementing plant isolations (desirable)
