About the role
This is a full-time opportunity located in Brisbane CBD.
The Planning and Approvals Advisor is a subject matter expert in urban and regional planning, responsible for providing and coordinating professional planning and tenure advice, analysis and service delivery to Stanwell’s business units, key projects, external regulators and stakeholders.
This role ensures that land use and property-related projects comply with relevant laws, planning regulations and approval processes. The Planning and Approvals Advisor navigates regulatory frameworks, secures necessary permits, and ensures land uses and projects meet local, state, and federal requirements.
Key activities include:
- Provide statutory and strategic planning advice and services, including advice relating to land use, development capability, due diligence assessments, master plans, planning and development approval processes and strategies as they relate to our current and future assets and sites.
- Support the development and delivery of strategic planning processes and projects, land use plans, master plans to help optimise land use and development at our current and future assets and sites.
- Negotiate with local authorities, state and federal government agencies and landholders on a range of property, tenure, tenement, development and town planning related matters.
- Coordinate, facilitate and engage with internal stakeholders to support the reconfiguration of existing land and/or purchase or sale of land and land interests to meet Stanwell’s development/disposal requirements.
- Research and provide timely, cost-effective advice on matters of local, regional, state or federal significance regarding land use, mining tenement, native title, town planning legislation and development controls.
About you
- Demonstrated experience in urban and regional planning.
- Strong practical and technical knowledge of federal, state (QLD) and local legislation governing urban and regional town planning.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with colleagues, consultants, management and external stakeholders with a focus on influence, persuasion and negotiation using subject matter expert knowledge and experience.
- Good project management ability to concurrently manage multiple processes, projects and people, to deliver timely and effective advice, analysis and outcomes.
